All the Chinese doctors who arrived Nigeria today to assist the country in combating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will spend 14 days in quarantine before they begin their assignments.
One of President Muhammadu Buhari’s aides Bashir Ahmad clarified this on his Twitter handle on Wednesday after the outcry from some quarters that the Chinese medical officers may pose risks to Nigerians and medical workers in the line of duty.
“In case you are looking for this, the Chinese medical team that arrived Abuja today to assist Nigeria in its fight against #COVID19, would be spending 14 days in quarantine before they begin their operations in the country.” Bashir Ahmad tweeted.
Some Nigerians and the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA have questioned the move to invite Chinese doctors to Nigeria to help with the fight against the pandemic that has claimed six lives in Nigeria and almost 90,000 globally.
Currently the United States, United Kingdom, Spain and Italy are battling to curb the death rate which has spiralled to hundreds in those countries.
